Behind the aesthetics of modern design, there are often traces of the East — its rigor, precision and internal discipline. On our “menu” is Ashigaru: an object with character and a deep idea. The name refers to the Japanese light infantry of the 16th century — ashigaru (Japanese: “light-footed”) — fighters without heavy armor, but with endurance and determination. This is also the case with this chair: light, linear, structural, with unexpected internal strength. The first test version was made of 5 mm cardboard — and even then it passed the test for strength and aesthetics. Later, a version appeared made of 4 mm plywood, painted black. The final iteration has cross-shaped elements made of transparent plastic, which changes the perception of the shape when viewed from different angles.
